caring for your sterling silver brooch Storage Silver jewellery isn't scratch proof, so it is recommended that you store your brooch so that it isn't rubbing up against other articles, such as loose in a drawer or jewellery box. Keeping sterling silver in the open air and humidity for extended periods of time can cause it to discolour or tarnish. Tarnish first appears as a golden hue on sterling silver, then over time turns to black. This is a normal process that is caused by oxidization and moisture from the air. To keep tarnish and scratches to a minimum it is advised that you store your brooch when not wearing it, in a protective air tight zip lock bag. Cleaning
Polish your sterling silver
jewellery regularly with a soft 100% cotton cloth. Refurbishment and Repair Most of my brooches are finished with a "brushed" finish. Should the finish become marked, use the special pad to restore the finish, by gently rubbing lengthwise with the "grain" of the brushed finish. After restoring the brushed finish, clean with mild liquid detergent and warm water, rinsing well. Allow to dry, before polishing with a soft cotton cloth. Extra pads are available if you need them. Email me your postal address and details of your brooch. Should your brooch be damaged and/or require repair please return it to me. Repairs are free of charge when the damage is a result of normal use. Please email me to arrange delivery |
