Furniture maker Linda Fredheim's fascination with the exploration of Tasmania

by 19th century European travellers, surveyors and explorers, has been realised in a suite of elegant and practical pieces of travelling furniture.

Each piece of furniture in the suite is inspired by a notable person from Tasmania's history, with the pieces incorporating maps, text and images relating to the journeys undertaken.

The exhibition was shown at 4 sites throughout Tasmania from the 1st to the 10th of April 2005 as part of 10 Days on the Island, with the work displayed under canvas in a purpose built tent.

HOBART - Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Queens Domain

LAKE ST CLAIR NATIONAL PARK - Cynthia Bay, Lake St Clair

STANLEY - Highfield House Gardens, Green Hills Road

LAUNCESTON - Launceston City Park, Cimitiere Street

However due to 2 days of wet and windy weather at Stanley, the tent did not

go up and the furniture was shown in the restored stables.

If you missed this intriguing exhibition you can still view the work, relive the

roadtrip and read the stories behind the pieces.
